Take the headache out of building and purchase a turn-key custom built home with lot for under $175,000. Casa Colina is scheduled for completion by Febuary 2011.
Casa Colina, on lot #6, was carefully designed for comfortable and practical Caribbean living by world renowned architect and friend Hal Sorrenti. The construction of Casa Colina is being overseen and implemented by well known Island builder Ben Welcome, of Welcome Construction, S.A.. With the combination of designer and builder, Casa Colina’s attention to detail is striking. Casa Colina is above and beyond it competitors in quality and price.
The entire home is concrete construction with maintenance free colored stucco for interior and exterior walls. The main floor of 880 square feet, boasts two bedrooms and two baths, living, dining and kitchen area as well as a 300 square foot deck that over-looks the Oak Ridge harbor and lush tropical mountain sides.
Windows are custom made by Krommerling as well as a large sliding door leading to the deck. Interior doors are all custom made by Ben Welcome, utilizing beautiful Honduran hard wood such as rosewood and vario. Complete kitchen cabinets will also be custom made with the same Honduran hardwood.
Floor tile and counter tops are constructed with porcelain tile as well as the top of custom built island that is just off the kitchen that includes organizational storage built in. House is complete with ceiling fans and all fixtures imported from the US. Showers in each bath are complete with tiles and glass doors. The design utilizes the space to include a built in office desk adjacent to the island where the open floor plan enhances friend and family gatherings. To maintain comfort in Casa Colina it is equipped with 3 split–unit air conditioning units. The kitchen includes a refrigerator, stove and range hood to eliminate heat from cooking.
On the foundational level we have incorporated a 6,000 gallon cistern water catchment system, (24 x7 well water is also available from Look Out Hill) to meet all your water needs. The laundry and equipment room includes stackable washer and dryer, table and wash basin, water pump, pressure tank, on demand water heater and main power panel. The 10’x 14’ storage bodega houses the battery backup power system, which also is a whole house surge protection, in approx a 3’x 2’ space. This system will provide power when the main electric company goes out and will run all electrical uses except for Air Conditioning, hot water heater and washer/dryer. The roof is insulated to keep the house cool and there are oversized gutters.
The septic is a two compartment unit designed to work with the piranha system with a built in leech field. Casa Colina is surrounded by a tasteful security fence and landscaping to complete the exterior with indigenous island flora.
Modifications to the design included; a four foot extension walkway parallel to dining and living area. The main entry staircase is next to the living area connecting to the four foot covered walkway. Second point of entry is parallel to the porch and is utilized to access laundry. The roof line is extended four feet to cover the four foot walkway. The cupola was eliminated and instead installed vented louvered gables on either side of the house.
